AN EFFICIENT METHOD TO IMPROVE QUALITY
Quality System uses a statistical control that allows to analyze all the differences giving rise to errors in an analytical phase. This examination is able to understand if this difference is within fixed limited imperfection. Laboratories should participate in a scheme at the recommended frequency to get the greatest benefit from it. Reports and analysis of data include objective result interpretation for decision making of a participating laboratory. The Quality System and the internal quality control assessment system are crucial to continuous quality improvement in every laboratory.
DISTRIBUTION FREQUENCY
According to the "Quality System", the samples to be analysed must be sent every three months, monthly or once per year (see the brochure below for more information).
This frequency is not too burdensome for the operator and, at the same time, it allows the laboratory to create a data archives for a historical analysis of the laboratory quality.
AVAILABLE SCHEMES
CLINICAL CHEMISTRY | HEMOSTASIS | IMMUNOASSAY |
HEMATOLOGY/SMEAR | SPECIFIC PROTEINS | ELECTROPHORESIS |
URINE | FECAL OCCULT BLOOD | INFECTIVOLOGY |
MICROBIOLOGY | HBA1C | DRUGS OF ABUSE |
CARDIAC MARKER | ESR | URINE SEDIMENTATION |
STEPS
Each laboratory receives samples of different analytes with unknown concentration; specimen with a long expiry date are delivered once per year;
Operators have to analyze the sample and send the results by email filling up the appropriate form in the QS WEBISTE:
Within four weeks of sending the samples, the participants in the Quality System shall send the results of the analytical tests by copying them onto the website.
The results received shall be subject to statistical processing.
Statistical analyses first examine the accuracy of the clinical result, which in reality gives the level of inaccuracy of the measurement.
